Through this conversation, Kiosken received an invitation to curate an exhibition at\u00a0Kabuso\u00a0in 2027. This felt like a luxury \u2014 not only to have time to plan, research and think, but also to expand our curatorial practice beyond our space in Bergen and think bigger.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559738&quot;:240,&quot;335559739&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">We knew we wanted to bring our interdisciplinary, collaborative identity to this project and create opportunities to meet and share ideas and processes. This led to\u00a0B\u00f8ygd: an exhibition inviting artists,\u00a0designers\u00a0and traditional craftspeople to meet, share their knowledge and process with each other, and absorb a little from one another&#8217;s practices.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559738&quot;:240,&quot;335559739&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">To do this, they spent time together \u2014 both in Hardanger, where the exhibition takes place, and in Bergen. We\u00a0facilitated\u00a0meetings and workshops, and visits to workshops,\u00a0studios\u00a0and ateliers, allowing time to work side by side. This way, the practices are anchored in a deep understanding of one another, and knowledge from Hardanger resurfaces through new hands.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559738&quot;:240,&quot;335559739&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Storeteigen, safeguarded and cared for by Kabuso and part of Hardanger\u00a0og\u00a0Voss Museum, became a base for the participating artists who live far from Hardanger. There, they stayed in a historic house surrounded by trees and flowers, with a spectacular view of the fjord \u2014 a place to get to know a rich area full of traditions and history, and to think of ways to connect with it through their artistic practices.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559738&quot;:240,&quot;335559739&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The final group of artists, designers and craftspeople was chosen for their strong interest in materials and their curiosity to learn and absorb from their surroundings \u2014 a collaboration with nature and materials intrinsic to each of their practices. We suggested pairings to draw them into conversation with each other. Ingeborg Tysse was invited to explore and connect with Hardanger\u00a0Maritime Center. Cato L\u00f8land and Hege Iren Aasdal, both gatherers in their own ways and deeply connected to found materials, were invited to look at each other&#8217;s practices. Margaret Abeshu was invited to explore\u00a0textile\u00a0through\u00a0skautfelling, a pleating technique, learning from Agnete Sivertsen at Hardanger Folk\u00a0Museum in Utne. Tor Erik B\u00f8e was invited to look at food traditions in Hardanger and bring them into his food and performance practice. Silje\u00a0Ensby, a photographer and filmmaker documenting traditional craft practices through film, was invited to\u00a0contextualise\u00a0the exhibition&#8217;s conceptual approach by documenting\u00a0skautfelling\u00a0and traditional basket weaving.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559738&quot;:240,&quot;335559739&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Conversations with the artists have revealed thoughts on bodies, labor, identity, past,\u00a0present\u00a0and future \u2014 shaping a world within the exhibition that carries us to an unknown place and time, populated by characters and objects that feel both familiar and unknown.
